PAKISTANI NATIONAL DFENCE UNIVERSITY APPLAUDS NIGERIAN NAVY EFFORT AT TACKLING NIGERIAN MARITIME CHALLENGES

The National Defence University (NDU), Islamabad, Pakistan has praised the effort of the Nigerian Navy at tackling the Nation’s maritime challenges. The commendation was made by the Team Leader of the NDU Islamabad study tour team to Nigeria, Air Commodore Tariq Usman Abbas during the team’s visit to the Naval Headquarters Abuja today.

 Air Commodore Abbas stated that Nigerian Navy has maintained an enviable leading role, not only in Sub-Saharan Africa, but in the African continent. He expressed delight at the transformation effort of the current leadership of the Nigerian Navy which has led to high level reduction of criminalities in the Nigerian maritime domain.

In his response,   the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas eulogized the long standing existing cordial relationship between the Nigerian Navy and their counterparts in Pakistan. The CNS, who was represented at the occasion by the Chief of Policy and Plans at the Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Henry Babalola maintained that several Nigerian naval officers and ratings have attended various professional courses in Pakistan and the relationship between the two nations’ navy has grown from strength to strength. He commended the NDU management staff for choosing Nigeria as one of the countries for the study tour.

Highlight of the occasion was the brief on the Role and Orgnisation of the Nigerian Navy, which was followed by interactive session between the guests and senior officers of the Nigerian Navy at the Naval Headquarters.
